Home Finance Guide is an independent, reader-supported publication. We don't have a customer service team or a phone line, but we do read every email we receive and try to respond within a few business days.

What we can help with
- Corrections. If you spot a factual error, an outdated figure, or a broken link, we'd genuinely like to hear about it. Please include the URL of the article and a brief description of what's wrong.
- Topic suggestions. Have a mortgage topic you wish someone would explain clearly? Tell us what you're trying to figure out and we'll consider it for a future guide.
- Feedback on existing articles. Was something unclear, missing, or harder to understand than it needed to be? Let us know.
- Press, partnership, or licensing inquiries. We're a small operation, but we read these messages.
What we can't help with
Because we're an educational resource and not a lender, mortgage broker, or financial advisor, there are some kinds of questions we can't answer:
- Personalized advice. We can't tell you whether a specific loan is right for your situation, what rate you'll qualify for, or whether you should refinance. For that, you need a licensed mortgage professional, financial advisor, or housing counselor.
- Loan applications, processing, or servicing. We don't originate, fund, or service loans. If you have a question about an existing mortgage, contact your lender directly.
- Lender recommendations. We don't recommend specific lenders. We can explain what makes a loan offer good or bad, but we won't tell you who to apply with.
- Real-time rate quotes. Rates change daily. For current rates, contact a lender or use a real-time rate comparison service.
If you're in financial distress
If you're struggling to make mortgage payments or facing foreclosure, please reach out to a HUD-approved housing counseling agency for free, confidential help. You can find one through the HUD counselor search or by calling 1-800-569-4287.
